The publications
Prior to the publication of English for Cambodia Book Four, the English for Cambodia series had already been published. English for Cambodia Book One (Book 1), for example, was released in 1997, English for Cambodia Book Two (Book 2) in 1998, and English for Cambodia Book Three in 1999 (Book 3). Then English for Cambodia Book Four (Book 4) was published in 2000. Next English For Cambodia Book Five was published in 2001 (Neau, 2003).
The objectives of publication
The objective of each textbook’s release was to assist Cambodian students in learning English in the context of Cambodia, as well as to assist them in pursuing further education at the tertiary level. Furthermore, if the students were fluent in English, they could continue their education in another country. According to Reasons why learning English is important (n.d.), knowing English improves your chances of landing a decent job in a global organization in your native country or in another one. Learning English is crucial for socializing, leisure, and employment since it is the language of international communication, the media, and the internet.
